What is my role in the program? The mentorship program is to help candidates learn skills and gain experiences in business ownership and entrepreneurship. This takes time and patience to learn, so finding a role that suits your strengths and mindset will require an aptitude for coachability. The candidate should work directly with their respective ambassador to find out what that strength is. If a candidate passes the selection process and becomes an ambassador in V1000, he/she will partner with our sponsors and work closely with his/her coach to develop a personal brand using the template and process we created. An ambassador is someone who should represent our program values and character by conducting their business activities responsibly and with integrity. He or she will also be growing his or her social network and building a business team from there.

I am not a business major nor do I have any interest of starting a business of my own. How is this relevant to me and my goals? There’s no business prerequisite to be a part of this program because we ultimately look at good character to determine who would be a good ambassador. At no point in this program do we force our candidates to switch their majors or change their career decisions. Some of our ambassadors (coming from non-business backgrounds) chose to look at this program because their major and jobs don’t work out for them, while others want to explore other options outside their major without affecting their education status. We do provide some perspective on how certain careers have an expected outcome, but it’s up to the candidate to decide what applies and works in their situation. In the end, the program helps them gain experiences with the nuances of starting an affordable business as a backup plan in case a career choice doesn’t work out. Our intention is to help them plan for their long-term future and avoid making high-cost mistakes in their career decisions.

Are there any fees to be a part of this mentorship program? No. At no point will we ever force our ambassadors to pay us money for our mentorship, time or by working with us. Our hope is that you do take our time and effort seriously by making improvements in your character, behavior, and actions and applying what we teach. However, like all businesses, there are start-up and ongoing costs incurred when operating them. Our coaches and mentors will personally help our ambassadors manage their finances and budget to make sure they avoid debt as much as possible. The cost is variable and is ultimately up to the ambassadors on how much they want to put into their businesses and personal education. Our mindset is that we get out as much as we put in. The brand partnership is an optional component of our program, and it’s something we never force onto our ambassadors if it’s out of their financial ability.

How much time does the selection process take and what do I have to commit to be a part of this program? The duration of the selection process varies from candidate to candidate. The factor that determines it is the level of comprehension and ability to change from feedback. On average a candidate puts in 2-3 hours/per week over 1-2 months into entrepreneurship and leadership development. The expectation is that you understand your sense of urgency and motivation to determine how much you want to put in. We don’t require anyone to commit to anything they’re not comfortable with. We just have them be aware and manage their expectations that this is their own brand, and their success is determined by what they’re willing to commit to. We have plenty of resources available to help you reach your goals, but whether or not you invest time into them is up to you.

Why do we have a selection process? We have a selection process for 3 reasons: Mutual Trust, Character Evaluation and Entrepreneurship Education. 1) Without mutual trust, there can be no type of partnership. 2) In our program, we will always give priority and higher consideration towards a candidate that demonstrates good character and integrity than someone who only has strong credentials. We do not want to undermine the value and impact of them, but we believe that a consistent character throughout and after the process tells us more about you than your credentials do. 3) Entrepreneurship is not a topic learned overnight and there may be some thought processes to be unlearned. It requires a certain mindset that is not easily taught in formal education. The process is our formulated method for both educating others and providing credible sources for potential partners to properly make an informed and proper decision. We strive to provide an accommodating experience towards each candidate going through the process, in hopes of developing mutual trust and a positive relationship.
